Penza region police seizes over 6,000 counterfeit alcohol bottles
Penza, 28 December 2015. PenzaNews. The police have seized over 6,000 bottles of counterfeit alcohol of different brands from a local citizen.
“The alcohol drinks were kept in two garages in Penza city and the Bessonovka area rented by the man in question – mostly vodka and cognac,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department informed PenzaNews agency.
During the investigation, a total of four citizens confessed to buying alcohol from the suspect, and the prospected circle of counterfeit goods buyers counted several dozens of persons, they added.
“The investigation also found the culprit to be using counterfeit excise duty stamps. The suspect, who now faces a criminal case, was released from custody on his own recognizance,” the department noted.
The seized goods are currently on storage in the law enforcement forces facilities, while its samples are examined for poisonous substances.
“The police are working to establish the origin of counterfeit alcohol,” the press service stressed.
