“It was found that on 27 November 2015, the accused was driving a VAZ-21061 with its license plate obscured and non-legible. Because of the latter fact, Mikhail Troshin was stopped by a traffic police officer by one of the apartment buildings on Vokzalnaya street in Inza town. Immediately at the stop, the police officer detected the signs of the driver being under the influence. Seeking to escape liability for administrative violation, the driver attempted to bribe the law enforcement officer while sitting in the police car by placing a banknote of 5,000 rubles between the front seats. However, the illegal action was immediately restrained,” the press service of the prosecutor’s office in the Ulyanovsk region told PenzaNews agency.

The culprit now faces a punishment of up to 8 years in prison with an accompanying fine thirty times the size of the attempted bribe, they noted.
