Penza, 10 January 2016. PenzaNews. A Penza citizen, 48, fell victim to a fraudster who promised him compensation for bank deposits that had been lost during the 1990s.

“An unidentified person called the man’s phone and told him he needs to get to an ATM and perform certain actions to receive compensation,” the press service of the Penza region Ministry of the Interior department told PenzaNews agency.

After the man followed the instructions, he found that 42,000 rubles were withdrawn from his account, they added.

“An investigation is currently in process. The police are establishing the identities of the culprits. We know that the caller was using a cellphone number registered in a different city,” the police noted.
