“According to investigators, in November 2015 the defendant came to the territorial police department with a claim saying that a group of unidentified men in Penza allegedly kidnapped him and kept him in a flat for a week, after which moved him to Sursk and abandoned him on the streets with tied hands and eyes, his personal effects and street clothes stolen,”Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the city Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, told PenzaNews agency.

The young man was warned about criminal liability for submitting intentionally false claims, she added.

“The investigation found that the claimant lied about the crime: he wanted to use that as an excuse to justify his lengthy absence to the parents. In reality, during that time he was living in Sursk with people who knew him,” she clarified.

After the accusation, the criminal case will be transferred to court for review on the merits, Lyudmila Fomina added.
