“The children who go outside become hopeless, and they basically become hostages of the incidents while in cars. That is why the adults must carefully monitor their activities on the streets and always tell them to observe traffic laws without any infractions whatsoever,” the traffic police noted.
They asked drivers to remain as vigilant as possible, especially while passing marked crossings with signs warning about children.
“Do not seat children under 12 in the front seat or in the back seat without a child seat or child seat belt device. While following all traffic norms and rules, observer particular caution, as children can run across the road at any time,” the traffic police addressed the car owners.
The press office also reminded the adults to describe the street crossing rules to young pedestrians.
“The traffic police are asking all adults: do not remain indifferent when children are playing by the roads. Show your example to them by crossing roads only at marked crossings, and at lit road sections when after dusk. Try to give them clothing or backpacks with light reflectors. Saving children’s lives must become a priority,” the traffic police stressed.
