Penza, 1 August 2016. PenzaNews. A total of 47 people, including three children, drowned in the Penza region over the year so far, Sergei Kozlov, head of the Penza region EMERCOM headquarters, informed the media during his press conference on Monday, August 1.

“[These include] two girls. One, born in 2009, drowned in a [Berezovka village] pond in the Kolyshley area; the other, in Kuznetsk on the Legky pond. Also, the boy born in 2004, who, I regret to say, lost his life in the Vadinsk area,” he said.
According to Sergei Kozlov, the children died due to the lack of adult and parental supervision.
“In one of the cases, there was a relative nearby – this is a human factor; in another, there were parents nearby, but they did not pay enough attention, and so the kids drowned,” he clarified.
Moreover, according to him, other tragic accidents on the waters were related to swimming in dangerous places not suitable for recreational swimming, and abuse of alcohol.
