Firefighters rescue 17 people, including eight children, from burning house in Penza

Penza, 13 October 2016. PenzaNews. Firefighters rescued 17 people, including eight children, while stiffing fire in the communal kitchen, located in a 4-storied house No. 47 on Lenina street in the afternoon on Thursday, October 13.

“When firemen arrived, the room of the first floor was in naked flames, thick black smoke was pouring out of the window. One could see open fire, which was moving to the second floor of the house,” Anna Shupilova, head of information and public relations division of the main EMERCOM department in the Penza region, reported.

She added that with the use of special equipment, workers of gas and smoke protection service entered the building and rescued the people who were inside the house.

Anna Shupilova noted that one man was taken to the ambulance.

“Fire damaged the room of the ground floor, and partially the room behind it. The causes of the incidents are being identified. EMERCOM investigators and the police are working on the site,” the agency interlocutor said.
