The fire that started in the Great Martyr and Healer Saint Panteleimon chapel in Zarechny of the Penza region on Thursday morning, December 15, was extinguished at 10.24. This was reported by the head of the fire-fighting information and public relations centre of the special department of the Federal Fire-fighting Service No. 22 of EMERCOM of Russia Svetlana Stulnikova.

According to her, the specialists still work at the place of the incident: they wash down the premises and investigate the circumstances.

The signal about the fire in the chapel, which was built in 2008 and is located at the premises of the city medical sanitary station – between the maternity clinic and the hospital surgical building, was received at 9.22 on Thursday, December 15.

The representatives of the special department of the Federal Fire-Fighting Service No. 22 of EMERCOM of Russia identified that the wooden building was on open fire. The higher rank of fire was announced.

28 people of manpower and nine units of technical equipment took part in extinguishing the fire.

According to the preliminary data, the fire zone amounts to 100 square metres. The caused damage is established.
