Man who cut down three fir trees in forest before New Year to face criminal liability

Penza, 27 December 2016. PenzaNews. The damage because of the trees cut down by a man in the Belinsky area of the Penza region amounted to more than 9,000 rubles, the lawbreaker is to face crimical liability.

“The illegal cutting of three Scotch pines was discovered during the inspection of the Bashmakovsky divisional forestry. The damage caused to the forestry amounted to 9,044 rubles, which is a large sum of money,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Forestry told PenzaNews.
The office added that the lawbreaker was arrested at the scene of the crime and sent to the police.
The press service reminded that tree cutting without permission is punished not only by the administrative but by criminal liabilty as well.
“According to the Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ‘Illegal forest stand cutting’ the criminal liability arises if the amount of damage is more than 5,000 rubles,” the Ministry of Forestry said.
