Penza, 26 February 2017. PenzaNews. A 30-year-old citizen of China was found guilty of committing a traffic accident, which resulted in the death of a man, at the 567th kilometre of the federal highway M5 "Ural" in the Mokshany area of the Penza region.

"At night, the driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee car was going from Penza in the direction of Moscow. When performing an overtaking, he crossed into oncoming traffic, where he collided with a Lexus car. As the result of the collision, the driver of the Lexus car received severe injures and was sent to hospital, where he died in several days. Three passengers of the Lexus car and the driver of the Jeep Grand Cherokee car received injuries of different degrees of severity. The driver was arrested and detained," the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told PenzaNews.

The department explained that the citizen of China, who was found responsible for the accident, did not have a migration registration and did not have legitimate grounds for staying in the territory of the Russian Federation.

"He drove the car having the power of attorney that was given to him by the owner of the car – his friend. The man explained that as it was night, he did not manage to take into account the speed and the length of the truck that he was going to overtake, and that he also did not see that there was a car going in his direction," the police added.

The department noted that the man was sentenced to imprisonment in a penal colony settlement but it was not specified for how many years the man will be imprisoned.
