"On Sunday [June 25] there were registered three traffic accidents, which resulted in four deaths. The reason is speed driving and crossing into the oncoming lane. On Tuesday [June 27] three traffic accidents occurred, four people died. We repair roads and it allows people to drive very fast. They exceed the speed and it leads to deaths," the head of the region said at the operational meeting in the regional government on Monday, July 3.

According to Ivan Belozertsev, in these circumstances, it is necessary to take additional safety measures on the roads, for example, to place banners calling to lower the speed or to install cameras and models of traffic police cars.

"Parents get behind the wheel, exceed the speed – driving 140-160 [km per hour], cross into the oncoming lane, pay tribute to life and their children do so as well," the governor noted.

He added tightening responsibility for speeding should be considered.
