In Penza Special Forces use flash-bang grenades when storming building of sauna where hostages kept

Special Forces of the National Guard of the Russian Federation used flash-bang grenades when storming the building of a sauna where a man had taken three women hostage. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

"On October 6, the department's call centre received a signal about taking citizens hostage in one of city saunas. Details of detention units of the non-departmental guard under the National Guard of the Russian Federation immediately arrived at the scene of the incident. They took security measures – blocked access to the building and cordoned off the adjacent territory," the department explained.
The press service added that workers of special forces units headed by the commander of the regional department of the National Guard of the Russian Federation Igor Belov also quickly arrived at the scene.
"Negotiations gave no result. Fighters of the Special Rapid Deployment Force entered the premises during the storming. When carrying out the operation, the troops used flash-bang grenades. As a result of the efficient and effective actions performed by soldiers of the special units, the offender was arrested and the detained citizens were released," the department said.
As it had been reported before, the hostage-taking took place in the sauna-hotel complex "Galeon" located at 2B Bakunina street, Penza. As a result of the incident, the city centre was cordoned off, including the prohibition to drive over the Bakuninsky bridge, which led to traffic jams.
Representatives of law enforcement authorities and emergency services were drawn up at the scene of the incident. In addition to the police officers and fighters of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, for the sake of safety provision workers of the main regional department of the EMERCOM of Russia prepared to act quickly in case of an emergency situation, were also involved.
