Penza, 4 January 2018. PenzaNews. Pre-trial investigation was organized on the fact of the death of a man born 1977 as a result of a fire in a house in Kooperativnaya street in Kamenka of the Penza region.

"During initial investigative activities it was established that on January 3 the 40-year-old man was at his friend's, where they drank alcohol. After a while, the owner of the house decided to buy more alcohol, and his acquaintance remained in the house, locking the door from the inside. The man was absent about 30-40 minutes during which the inflammation occurred," Tatyana Makhnitskaya, senior assistant of the head of the regional investigative department for media relations under the Investigative Committee of Russia, told PenzaNews.

She explained that it was a neighbour who saw the fire and called firefighters.

"After the workers of the main department of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Penza region had eliminated the open flame, they found the dead body. During the inspection, thermal burns of the man's face, hands and feet were registered. According to preliminary data, he died from carbon monoxide poisoning," the interlocutor added.

Tayana Makhnitskaya noted that the fire centre was in the room where the body of the man was found.

"At the present time, the investigator is conducting inspection aimed at establishing the circumstances of the fire and death of the Kamenka resident. Forensic medical and fire-technical examinations were prescribed," she said.
