"The car was detected by workers of the Road Patrol Service in Saltykova-Shchedrina street. The driver did not react to the demand to stop and tried to escape. Due to this fact the pursuit was organized, during which the car driver grossly violated traffic rules repeatedly driving onto the lane intended for oncoming traffic," the department explained.
The press service added that at the intersection of Kalinina and Krasnaya Gorka streets the driver had lost control of the car and as a result it crashed into a pole with road signs.
After the incident the driver continued illegal actions trying to leave the scene of the traffic accident not reacting to legitimate demands of police officers," the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
It noted that workers of the State Traffic Police had had to apply physical force and impact munition to the offender.
"It was later established that a man born 1977 with obvious signs of alcohol intoxication had been at the wheel of the Lada Kalina car. A criminal case under Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation 'Violation of traffic rules by a person subjected to administrative punishment' was opened against him," the police specified explaining that the violator had previously been caught driving when intoxicated.
