High alert regime declared after gas explosion in residential building in Penza

Penza, 11 June 2018. PenzaNews. High alert was declared in Penza since June 10 after explosion of household gas in apartment No. 28 on the second floor of house No. 27 in Krupskaya street, as a result of which a worker of JSC Metan who arrived at the scene was injured. This was reported by the press service of the mayor's office.

Penza officials visited the scene of the incident, after which a meeting of the committee on emergency situations was held in the city administration at 23.00.

EMERCOM department head Alexei Mikhailov confirmed that no residents of the house had been injured.

He also said that the part of the house, where 15 people live, was in disrepair, which forced four residents to move to the centre of temporary stay located at boarding school No. 1 at 25 Prospekt Pobedy street.

Victor Kuvaytsev noted that according to preliminary estimates two flats had been damaged.

"Tomorrow, a specialized organization will examine the scene of the incident and give a conclusion on the basis of which decisions on the organization of repair and restoration works will be made," he said.

After the meeting Victor Kuvaytsev and other responsible officials went to the scene of the incident to control the situation.

As it was reported before, the gas explosion occurred in a flat on the second floor of four-storeyed brick house No. 27 in Krupskaya street in Penza at around 19.55 on Sunday, June 10.

The tenants called a specialist of JSC Metan when they smelled gas in the stairwell. According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred when the technician was on the doorstep of the flat, that is before the start of work.

The man was hospitalized with injures. He underwent surgery, the patient's condition is stable.
