Penza, 7 August 2018. PenzaNews. 23 people, including two minors, have drowned in the Penza region since the beginning of the beach season. This was reported by the press service of the main regional EMERCOM department.

The department noted that the recent tragic case had happened in the Nizhnelomovsk area, where a man having a rest near the river Moksha went for a swim and vanished.

"After a while the members of the company became anxious about his absence and set out on search, which was unsuccessful. The divers that arrived at the scene found the body of the deceased, raised it to the ground and handed over to the police," the press service explained.

The EMERCOM department drew attention to the fact that the main reason of people's death on water objects was the choice of unauthorized sites for swimming. In addition, most of the drowned were in a state of alcoholic intoxication.

"All child deaths were connected with a lack of control by adults or parents," the department added.
