At a meeting held on June 15, governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozertsev suggested opening of a police department in the village of Chemodanovka, where only a small police station had existed before, and temporarily suspension of the sale of alcohol. Commenting on the situation in the village, where an ethnic conflict had broken out, the head of the region said that the situation was under control.

In turn, Vadim Kovtun, stand-in head of the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who took part in the meeting, informed the attendees that 12 people had been identified as participants of the mass fights, where a man was killed.
