Penza, 24 April 2021. PenzaNews. Acting Penza region governor Oleg Melnichenko visits the town of Nizhny Lomov, where children were poisoned by chlorine. This was stated in a message spread by the press service of the regional government.

“Oleg Melnichenko went to Nizhny Lomov, where a chlorine release had affected 20 children. According to operational information, the accident occurred on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Volna swimming pool, where children aged 10 to 14 were practising swimming. There are no fatalities, all children are conscious, with slight dizziness and nausea,” the press release said.

It adds that seven of the injured were hospitalised in Penza, the rest – in Nizhny Lomov.

Earlier it was reported that the prosecutor’s office had organised a check into the incident.
