According to Anna Shupilova, head of the press service of the Russian EMERCOM in the Penza region, information about a fire in an apartment on the fifth floor of a five-storey building was received on January 6 at 22.39.

“According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was the explosion of the air-gas mixture in the apartment. Two dead people have been found. 25 people have been evacuated,” she said.

According to her, 19 people and four units of equipment worked at the site.

“The incident is being investigated,” the head of the press service of the Russian EMERCOM in the Penza region added.
