Penza, 17 June 2016. PenzaNews. Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) intends to fully press the case for buying four assets of SMARTS telecom company, the MTS president Andrei Dubovskov informed the press.

In late 2015, the High Court in London arrested four SMARTS companies, which include SMARTS assets in Penza, Yoshkar-Ola, Saransk and Ulyanovsk, under a lawsuit against “Telecom Povolzhye” (an offshoot company of MTS).

In late 2014, MTS and the SMARTS founder Gennady Kiryushin signed an agreement to sell 100% of shares for all four companies by 30 November 2015. However, the deal failed to resolve so far, which, according to MTS evaluations, resulted in $35 million of losses for “Telecom Povolzhye.”

“We will press it to the end. As per the agreements, they [SMARTS company] must sell them [the four assets] for the agreed price,” he said, adding that MTS finds these assets necessary.

“There are no clients there, but there are good frequencies. Everybody needs frequencies of different variety,” the Interfax news agency quotes Andrei Dubovskov.
