The company reminded that the launch of the standard 4G/LTE in the Volga daughter company was made 5 years ago.

"Today, an average time of connection to a 4G network in Penza and other capitals of Volga regions equals to 97%. In other words, being outside subscribers hardly leave 4G coverage area, which has the speed of 100-150 Mbit/s. Over 25% of smartphone users surf the Internet using the network of the fourth generation. The service is provided in the territory where 80% of the Volga region population lives," the press service noted.

The department explained that the technology "MMIMO" works in the current standard 4G/LTE and its application does not require additional frequencies, which are a limited and expensive resource.

"The technology 'Massive MIMO' will let users get the maximum speed within the standard 4G/LTE even when the network is overloaded. The frequency advantage, which MegaFon possesses, will allow speeding it up to the maximum if needed," the company said.

As it was noted by the director of the Volga branch of the PJSC MegaFon Vladimir Krapushkin, so called digital subscribers, that is people who actively use the Internet for communication, downloading videos, music or making payments, represent a significant share of the whole audience.

"Nowadays, such clients make up one third of our subscriber base. In addition, 60% of new clients are active Internet users, and in the future, the share will increase. Such subscribers will need new speed and we will be happy to satisfy their growing needs," he assured.
