Penza, 15 February 2016. PenzaNews. An automatic hematology imaging analyzer for laboratory blood and smear tests to detect cancer and inflammations in women is now operational in the Penza city maternity clinic.

“The analyzer automatically calculates the leucogram and detects pathology cells in samples,” explained Lyubov Ksenofontova, head of the maternity clinic laboratory.

According to her, a big advantage of the scanner is that is provides the results as a set of cell images that are immediately sorted into categories.

“Analyzing an automatically process gallery of images is much more convenient and fast than spending several hours at the microscope,” she noted.

All reports are automatically stored in the scanner’s database, Lyubov Ksenofontova added.

“Still, you cannot fully trust the cell sorting algorithm of the device, so a doctor always reviews the cells and adjust the final result,” the press service of the Penza region Health Ministry quotes the maternity clinic laboratory head.
