Three-month-old newborn dies in Penza

Penza, 15 February 2016. PenzaNews. The police are conducting a pre-investigation check after the death of a three-month-old newborn in the Penza regional infectious diseases hospital late at night into Sunday, February 14.

The newborn had been hospitalized on February 13.
“Preliminary investigation showed the death was caused by meningococcosis. A forensic medical examination will establish the exact causes of the baby boy’s death,” Lyudmila Fomina, Senior Assistant of the Head of the Investigative Department of the city Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, told PenzaNews agency.
At the moment, an investigator is taking all necessary measures to establish the full picture of the incident.
“We are questioning the staff of the institution and the child’s parents, analyzing the documents related to the boy’s health, including his status on the day of hospitalization. The investigative measures will also show the quality and fullness of medical services provided for the newborn,” she stressed.
