Penza, 15 April 2016. PenzaNews. The demographic situation in the Penza region demonstrates the signs of an upcoming decline, suggested Sergei Degtyar, chairman of the health protection, demographics and childhood committee of the Penza region Civic Chamber, during the 2015 conclusion plenary meeting on Friday, April 15.

“Our demographic situation will be worsening. There’s the crisis, the real estate production is declining gradually, the mortgages are rather heavy – even if the interest rates are small, the newlywed families are unable to pay them. This will be influencing the demographic situation,” he explained.
As Sergei Degtyar pointed out, the people born in 1995 are entering adulthood, but they are a rather small demographic strata, which will also affect the downward birthing trend.
“Plus there’s the HIV. We still haven’t solved the drug, or alcohol, abuse rehabilitation issue on the state body level,” the Civic Chamber member stressed.
The current year requires the officials to reconsider their stances on a number of positions in the healthcare field, Sergei Degtyar pointed out.
“This firstly affects the regions, because there likely won’t be much done by Moscow,” he concluded.
