Syphilis incidence almost halved in Penza region

Penza, 31 August 2016. PenzaNews. 78 cases of syphilis were detected in the Penza region during seven months of the current year, which is 48.3% less than in the same period last year. This is stated in a message posted on the website of the regional Rospotrebnadzor.

According to the data, the number of gonorrhea patients decreased nearly by one-third compared with last year — 50 cases registered.
The incidence of major sexually transmitted infections remains at a low level with a tendency to further decrease.
During the period from January to July 2016 in the Penza region there is not a single case of diphtheria, rubella and mumps.
The number of cases of acute enteric infections increased by 23.4% — 408.3 per 100 thousand.
51.1% of hospital patients with intestinal infection of unknown etiology were children, which is 43% higher than last year's figure.
In addition, the region has seen a downward trend in the incidence of tuberculosis, but in six areas, the situation remains unfavorable: in Vadinsky area — 70 patients per 100 thousand people, in Luninsky area — 58.1, in Bashmakovsky area — 47.7, in Narovchatsky area — 37. 5, in Shemysheysky area — 35.9, and in Belinsky area — 32.
Within the last seven months of this year four children and five teenagers were diagnosed tuberculosis.
341 patients were infected due to improper medical care in the maternity hospitals — 14.1%, postoperative — 37.5%, post-injection — 11.4%.
Total number of patients with infectious diseases in the last 7 months of 2016 amounted to 80.5 thousand people, which is 10.2% less compared to the same period last year.
