Penza, 5 December 2016. PenzaNews. Penza oncologists carried out a facial resection operation for the first time.

As the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Penza region told PenzaNews, the operation lasted about 11 hours and required application of microsurgical reconstructive and plastic technologies.

“The ground for the operation was the enormous malignant tumor of the upper jaw, which threatened the patient’s life,” the medical treatment assistant chief medical officer of the regional oncology treatment center Dmitry Chichevatov explained.

Supposedly, such operative interventions that correspond to modern demands of oncosurgery will help in the future to save lives of the patients that used to be considered incurable.

The number of such operations in Penza will increase.
