Penza, 6 June 2017. PenzaNews. The Penza region entered top-3 of Russian regions with the highest incidence of obesity as in the year 2015. Such data are contained in the report of the Federal Service on Surveillance for Consumer rights protection and human well-being entitled "On state of sanitary-epidemiological well-being of the population in the Russian Federation in 2016" published on the institution's website.

The obesity incidence among adults over the age of 18, who were diagnosed with the illness for the first time, equals to 678.08 cases per 100,000.

The leader by incidence is the Nenets autonomous region, where the indicator is over 1,000 cases per 100,000 people.

The top-3 also includes Altai Krai with 975.9 cases per 100,000 people.

At the same time, in Russia the incidence increased by 2.3 times since 2011.

Among the reasons why more and more people become obese, specialists of the Federal Service on Surveillance for Consumer rights protection and human well-being name insufficient number of macro- and microelements as well as excessive number of simple carbohydrates that a human's body receives with food.
