Infant mortality rate in Penza region amounts to 4.1 per thousand live-born infants

Penza, 30 July 2017. PenzaNews. The infant mortality rate in the Penza region during the period from January to June 2017 amounted to 4.1 per a thousand born infants. This is testified by operational data of the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat).

According to Rosstat's data, Penza region's rate is lower than an average rate in Russia, which equals to 5.3 per a thousand infants.

4,480 children in the age of under 1 year old died during this period in the whole country, while in the Penza region the rate amounted to 27 death cases, which is 9 cases less compared to the analogous period of the previous year.

In terms of infant mortality, the Penza region occupies the 4th position in the Volga Federal District. It is less in such regions as Chuvashia – 3.6 per 1,000 births, the Kirov region – 3.9, and Udmurtia – 4.

The highest infant mortality rate in the Volga Federal District is in Bashkiria, where the rate equals to 7.2 per a thousand live-born infants. During six months, 193 infants died in the republic due to different reasons.
