"I decided to allocate about 7 million roubles from the regional budget," the region head wrote on his micro blog on Twitter.
He explained that nine cars would be sent to Penza outpatient hospitals, two more cars – to Kuznetsk and one car to Nizhnelomovsk, Kamenka and Serdobsk inter-area hospitals.
"This measure should increase the availability and quality of medical care for children, make work of doctors more comfortable," the head Ivan Belozertsev said.
He reminded that the decision to purchase the cars had been taken after a live phone-in during which the deputy chief physician of the Regional Children Clinical Hospital named after N.F. Filatov Olga Smirnova asked to consider buying cars for paediatric services working in the region.
She explained that it was especially difficult for specialists in an off-season when the level of child morbidity rose, and paediatricians had to visit patients in any weather both in high-rise buildings and in the private sector.
