"In March, latest in April, we will start to carry out the procedure of in vitro fertilisation in the perinatal centre," he said at a press conference on Wednesday, December 27.
The minister specified that since the beginning of 2017, 821 IVF attempts were undertaken, as a result of which 162 babies were born.
According to Vladimir Stryuchkov, it is a very good result.
"We used to buy the service in private medical institutions," the head of the regional Ministry of Health explained noting that the perinatal centre will be the first state budget institution, where IVF will be conducted.
According to the minister, the premises have been prepared, all necessary equipment has been purchased, two specialists have been trained and two more are required before the service provision begins.
Vladimir Stryuchkov also added that in the future several institutions of the Penza region will function as a single centre of reproductive health, where support for men and women from adolescence to retirement age will be provided.
According to him, this will allow to avoid many health problems especially those of young people, who practically do not visit doctors until full age and do not know about diseases of the reproductive system.
