Infant mortality in Penza region amounts to 3.7 cases per 1,000 born children

Penza, 28 December 2017. PenzaNews. The infant mortality rate in the Penza region in 10 months of the year 2017 amounted to 3.7 per 1,000 born children, which is almost half as much as the average Russian level. This was reported by the head of the regional Ministry of Health Vladimir Stryuchkov at the meeting of the Penza region government on Thursday, December 28.

According to him, no cases of maternal mortality were registered during the same period.

The minister added that this had been achieved thanks to the three-level system of medical care built in the region, which was one of the first in the country. The care is provided to women during pregnancy and childbirth as well as to newborns.

As it was reported before, from January to June 2017 the infant mortality rate in the Penza region was 3.7 per 1,000 born babies. The average Russian result was 5.3.
