Penza, 6 February 2018. PenzaNews. 850 procedures of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) are planned to be carried out in 2018 within a regional scheme of state benefits that provides a free medical assistance in the territory of the Penza region. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Health.

"The procedure is available in 183 clinics of the country. However, Penza couples prefer institutions of obstetrics located in Samara, Saratov, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. After the commissioning of the Penza perinatal centre this reproductive technology will help an even greater number of couples that have the problem of giving birth to a child," the department noted.

The ministry reminded that in 2017 about 180 children had been born in the Penza region thanks to IVF. 821 married couples underwent the procedure.

As it was reported on the website of the compulsory health insurance foundation of the Penza region, since January 1, 2018, the procedure of cryopreservation of embryos with subsequent defrosting and transfer into the uterine cavity had become available at the expense of the funds of the compulsory insurance.

However, the storage of cryopreserved embryos is not carried out at the expense of the foundation.
