Oncology patient from Kuznetsk has to purchase medicine supposed to be distributed for free

Kuznetsk, 15 November 2019. PenzaNews. A resident of Kuznetsk, Penza region, suffering from cancer, had to buy an expensive medicine that was supposed to be provided free of charge at her own expense for three months. This was reported by senior assistant of the regional prosecutor for media relations Svetlana Artamonova.

"The reason for the violation of her rights was the failure of the health care institution [State Budgetary Healthcare Institution Kuznetsk Interdistrict Hospital] to comply with the rules of submitting an application to the Ministry of Health of the region for free provision of medicine to a certain category of citizens," the interlocutor of the agency explained.
She added that after the intervention of the Prosecutor's Office, the hospital had organized an uninterrupted monthly supply of the necessary medicine, and one employee of the institution had been brought to disciplinary responsibility.
