Penza, 1 January 2020. PenzaNews. The first flu case in Penza region in the epidemic season of 2019-2020 was registered in the territory of Kuznetsk. This was reported by the press service of the regional department of the Federal Service on Surveillance for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being (Rospotrebnadzor).

According to the department, the patient was diagnosed with influenza type B.

Immunization coverage in the region is 54.5%.

The total incidence of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in the region is 58% lower than the epidemiological threshold, and in Penza – almost 57% lower.

A relatively high incidence of acute respiratory infections is observed in Kuznetsk, Neverkinsky, Kameshkirsky, Lopatinsky, Kuznetsky, Gorodishchensky, Sosnovoborsky and Nikolsky areas.
