Penza, 24 April 2020. PenzaNews. Outbreak of novel coronavirus infection COVID-19 was recorded in a hostel of one of Penza universities. This was announced by head of the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor Mikhail Perekusikhin.

"We have an outbreak among foreign students at the University of Construction. Quarantine measures naturally are being taken there. A certain number of people with clinical symptoms were hospitalized. There are eight confirmed cases," he said, answering a question from Irina Zavartseva, host of the City Speaks programme on Russia-24.Penza.

Mikhail Pereksikhin explained that the entire hostel was under quarantine.

"It is being controlled by different forces, including Rosgvardiya so that [...] there should be no desire to take a walk, as they say," he noted.
