Penza, 24 May 2011. PenzaNews. Spring sowing campaign in the Penza region will be finished until the end of May.

According to the information of the press-service of the Penza region on May, 23, sowing of spring crops is 97% finished. The total area of sowing the spring crops will be 626,8th ha this year.

The total area of crops in 2011 will be 1,2m ha, where corn and grain legumes cover 646th ha.
Now the area for the potato growing is more than 39th ha in the Penza region. Farming operations are
continuing. Generally, the bulk yield of potato in the farms of the region is considered to be not less than 600th tons this year.

Other vegetable cultures are planted on the area of 9,1th ha (95 % from the planned amount). Sugar beet expected to occupy 58th ha and sunflower — 130th ha.
