Violations of rules on handling of mercury wastes revealed in the Issinsky district

Penza, 26 May 2011. PenzaNews. Violations of rules on handling harmful wastes and on organizing gathering of used mercury-containing lamps were revealed during prosecutor's check in the Issinsky district of the Penza region. In particular, in some municipalities of the district the order of used energy saving lamps collection was not normative established.

Senior Assistant of Attorney of the Penza region Tatyana Ostrovskaya said: "The bodies of local administration did not actually satisfy the legislative norms on energy saving and on improving of energy efficiency in organizing collection of used mercury-containing lamps. Collection of lamps was not actually held."

She noted that the lack of order during the collection of used mercury-containing lamps, the lack of informing the society and the lack of the responsible for it government officials could cause the mass infection, human casualties and damage to surrounding environment.

Tatyana Ostrovskaya said: "Procuracy directed in the district court six statements on forcing the local governments to eliminate detected violations. All statements of claim wereconsidered and satisfied."
