Penza, 7 June 2012. PenzaNews. Valery Lidin, First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region, coordinator of the Regional Coordination Council of the All-Russia People’s Front considers primaries a good opportunity for voters to meet candidates before election.

“This is very good experience and it should be used at election. First of all, this is the opportunity to introduce people before the election, to identify the leaders and on behalf of the party to recommend them to the list of candidates, so that it included decent, respectable, reputable and competent people,” Valery Lidin said.

In his opinion, primaries can help to avoid mistakes.

“Many social organizations have set up their candidates and the party “United Russia” considered this issue at the meeting of Political Council. 148 candidates will take part in the primaries. They will be competing for the votes of electors for a month at 18 different sites. Well-known regional politicians as well as non-public people: teachers, doctors and engineers were among those who decided to take part in the procedure,” Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly added.
