“Such actions are held nowadays not only in many Russian cities, but also abroad — in London, Paris, New York. The event aims to draw public attention to the people who participated in the action “March of Millions” in Moscow and were illegally detained. I myself am a member of the “March” and familiar to many people thrown in jail. Vladimir Akimenkov, for instance, is my friend, and I know for sure that he was not involved in any public disorders,” informed news agency PenzaNews the coordinator of the “Left Front” in the Penza region Sergey Padalkin.
According to the opposition, it was a duty of every person who cares to participate in a demonstration.
“It is important that as many people as possible knew about the political prisoners. Besides, when we go out into the street, the authorities simply have to react,” said Sergey Padalkin, stressing that the main purpose of the action is the release from detention of those suspected and accused of involvement in the riots on Bolotnaya Square in Moscow.
Penza event was peaceful and ended with no incidents.
