Penza, 3 September 2012. PenzaNews. Former Minister of Education of the Penza region Svetlana Kopeshkina, who has recently resigned, took responsibility for the situation with providing educational literature in educational institutions as she had been misinformed about the state of matters by certain officials. This was declared by the chairman of the regional government Yuri Krivov at a briefing on Monday, September 3.

“Providing school libraries with textbooks within the regional program has been on in Penza region since 2008. This year it was held by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the local education authorities, municipalities and educational institutions — it was planned to allocate 86 million rubles, and achieve a 70-percent level of provision of school libraries, I emphasize — not students, but school libraries — with textbooks,” Yuri Krivov informed.

“However, in the course of this work mistakes were made in the organization of coordinated interaction with municipal education authorities, which, in turn, did not fully coordinate their actions with educational institutions, which resulted in misinformation about the planned effect. In particular, the misleading idea, uttered by certain officials, about a 100-percent provision of students by educational literature,” clarified the chairman of the government of the Penza region.

According to him, Svetlana Kopeshkina took full responsibility for the problem, which received a negative response, and made a decision to resign, which was approved by the governor.

“The problem is not that there won’t be any textbooks in schools, but the fact that for a number of subjective reasons the Minister of Education was misinformed by the entire pyramid that stands beneath her, and this misinformation has arisen because of lack of coordination between different levels of government and educational institutions,” Yuri Krivov concluded.
