Penza, 12 September 2012. PenzaNews. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes that conditional sentencing would be enough for the members of infamous Pussy Riot protest group. He expressed this view at a meeting of the government with the core members of the United Russia in Penza on Wednesday, September 12.

“I did not express my point of view after the verdict, though it has not yet come into force and was appealed. In relation to this rather sad story: imprisonment is a very scary responsibility, and a group of girls is in prison for a long time, what has happened whatever the sentence is very serious,” Dmitry Medvedev said.

According to Prime Minister, pre-sentence detention of the girls is enough punishment for them.

“In my opinion, imprisonment was enough for them to think of what happened in their lives for their foolishness or some other reasons. Therefore, prolongation of their detention is not productive. Conditional sentencing would be enough,” Dmitry Medvedev stated.

Expressing his personal opinion on the action and the entire situation, Prime Minister used, as he said, not a parliamentary parlance.

“I am sick of what they have done, of how they look, and of all that hysteria that goes along with it. This is my personal view,” Prime Minister concluded.
