The Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on rules and management of the lower house of Parliament, a member of LDPR faction Alexander Kurdyumov commented on the proposal of his party-mates to legally assign the retail sale of alcoholic and tobacco products to specialized stores.

“We would like alcohol to be sold in large specialized stores, responsible for the products they sell. Then we shall have products of good quality in our country,” clarified the member of Russian State Duma Alexander Kurdyumov during a meeting with journalists at the press center of news agency PenzaNews on Friday, October 12.

He noted that the bill is aimed primarily at public health preservation.

“Today along the roads of small villages they sell things, which poison people and kill them. We're talking about the health of our citizens — kiosks and small retail shops sell alcohol, which is not a product of a factory mentioned on the label, to put it mildly. The same goes for cigarettes,” Alexander Kurdyumov summed up.
