Lyubov Glebova elected Senator of Legislative Assembly of Penza region

Penza, 22 October 2012. PenzaNews. Lyubov Glebova was elected a representative of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia during the first organizational session of the regional parliament on Monday, October 22.

According to the correspondent of news agency PenzaNews reporting from the scene, Lyubov Glebova was supported by 34 deputies out of 36 taking part in a secret ballot, with two votes against.

Before the beginning of voting the communist member Georgy Kamnev stated that the Communist faction will not support her candidacy.

“We will vote against — not against you personally, but against the Unified State Exam,” Georgy Kamnev explained the position of the Penza communists.

It is expected that in the Federation Council Lyubov Glebova will support educational reforms.

Lyubov Glebova was born in Arzamas, on March 7, 1960.

She graduated from Arzamas State Pedagogical Institute named after A. Gaydar.

In 1981–1992, she was a member of Komsomol.

From 1992 to 1998, she managed various business structures.

In 1998–1999, she was an advisor to Prime Minister Sergei Kirienko, the chairman of the executive committee of “Novaya Sila” (New Power).

In 1999–2001, she was the member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia.

From 2001 to 2005, she was the deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District.

From 2005 to 2008, she was the state secretary – deputy Minister of Health and Social Development of Russia.

In 2008, she was appointed the head of the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science.

She is the present State Councilor of the Russian Federation, 1 class, Education PhD.
