Ivan Belozertsev resigned as head of Penza

Ivan Belozertsev who was elected the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region of the fifth convocation officially resigned as the head of Penza during the regular session of the City Duma on Friday, October 26. According to the reporter of news agency “PenzaNews,” all the deputies present at the session – 28 of 32 – unanimously accepted this decision. After the vote Ivan Belozertsev thanked the deputies for the fruitful years of joint work.

“I am grateful to everyone who supported me for 8 years and went hand in hand. Together we have done a lot of work, but there are still many problems. I also express my gratitude to the residents of Penza, deputies and heads of the City Duma departments, representatives of media and civil society organizations for their support and active work,” he said.

Moreover, in connection with the election to the regional parliament, the powers of the City Duma deputies Nikolai Simonov and Dmitry Lavrentiev were prematurely terminated.

Ivan Belozertsev was born in the village of Baranovo, Livensky area, the Oryol Region on September 15, 1958.

In 1980, he graduated from Ulyanovsk Higher Tank Command School in specialty “operating engineer of tracked and wheeled vehicles”

In 1981–1984, he was the secretary of the committee of the Komsomol battalion of cadets.

In 1982–1986, he was elected a member of Ulyanovsk Bureau of State Committee and Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

From 1984 to 1986, he was an assistant to the head of the political department in Komsomolwork of Ulyanovsk Higher Tank Command School.

In 1986–1987, he was the deputy commander of a battalion of combat training weapons and equipment of the military unit No. 61642.

In 1987–1989, he was the secretary of the Party Committee of the regiment.

In 1990–1991, he was elected the secretary of the party committee of the command faculty of Academy of Humanities of Military Forces of Russia.

In 1992, he graduated from the Academy of Humanities of Military Forces of Russia, specialty “Social Teacher,” and then left to serve in the school as the commander of platoon of training tanks combat.

From 1992 to 1999, he was the deputy military commissar of the Penza region, from 1999 to 2004 — the head of personnel and register of officers’ reserve in the region.

In 2000, he was elected to the City Council of Penza of the third convocation.

On 29 December 2004, at the first session of Penza City Duma of the fourth convocation he was elected its Chairman – Head of Penza.

In March 2009, he was re-elected for the second term.

Ivan Belozertsev received seven medals of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
