Penza, 26 December 2012. PenzaNews. The members of the lower house of Russia's parliament, having adopted the so-called Dima Yakovlev Law, yet again drew attention to the issue of adoption, which has increased dramatically in the recent years. This opinion was voiced in an interview with news agency PenzaNews by the member of State Duma deputy from the Penza region representing the faction United Russia Nikolai Makarov on Wednesday, December 26.
“The fact that the Russian system of adoption should be improved is undoubtful. All the more so, this applies to the cases when the Russian children are adopted by foreign families,” he stressed.
According to the deputy, the adoption of children by foreigners should be “strictly controlled by the Russian side.”
As news agency PenzaNews reported earlier, on December 21 Russian State Duma adopted the so-called Dima Yakovlev Law prohibiting adoption of Russian children by the citizens of the United States and other countries, which will approve acts similar to Magnitsky Act.
