Penza, 15 February 2013. PenzaNews. The restriction of alcohol sale from 21.00 to 9.00 in diners entered into force in the Penza region. The corresponding bill was adopted by the members of the Legislative Assembly of the region during the regular session on Friday, February 15.

“Within this time period most of the crimes and offenses committed in the state of alcohol intoxication are registered. The bill aims at prevention of alcoholism,” commented the Minister of Agriculture of the Penza region Ivan Firyulin.

The chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the region Ivan Belozertsev added that the bill has been widely discussed.

The Penza region currently has 221 cafes, 80 bars, 30 restaurants, and 76 diners in operation. According to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affair of Russia, in 2012, in the number of domestic crimes committed in the state of alcohol intoxication increased by 29,6% in the Penza region.
