Serdobsk, 18 February 2013. PenzaNews. Anton Sharonov, the head of the area administration of Serdobsk and head of the local branch of the United Russia party, said he did not intend to obey the request to leave his position, which was expressed by the participants of the rally against the social policy of the authorities, organized in Serdobsk by the members and supporters of the Communist Party of Russia.

“Of course, the people who came to the rally have the right to express their opinion. They believe that all their troubles come from the head of the area administration. I do not agree with this. I think Serdobsky area has all the resources for development, but it is necessary for everyone to perform their duties,” Anton Sharonov told news agency PenzaNews on Monday, February 18.

“The administration of Serdobsky area is working according to the social and economic situation, which has developed in the area. The area has its history, and its economy, and there is no way to avoid it. We have a budget and we are to spend it prudently, economically, frugally,” the agency interlocutor commented.

The head of the area administration admitted that some expenses “could be less.”

“This applies to social, housing and communal services. The residents of Serdobsk are aware of my position, and the majority supports me. I think there are primary expenditure obligations, which we must fulfill in order to enable the development of the region, and there are those that we can give up for the sake of primary obligations,” he pointed out.

Anton Sharonov added that the area administration is working rationally, and all the accusations against it are lies spread by people who are interested in undermining the political situation.

He stressed that respects the people who came to the rally and expressed their views.

“But I am not going to follow these views. Firstly, because I do not think it is correct, and, secondly, because I am a member of another party — the United Russia party,” the agency interlocutor concluded.
