First deputy chairman of the Federation Council committee on constitutional legislation, judicial and legal affairs, civil society development Boris Shpigel, who is also a representative of the executive body of the Penza region, intends to resign from the position of a senator.
According to him, it will happen, most likely, at the next session of the upper house of parliament.
Senator said that in November 2012 he was elected the president of the international human rights organization “World without Nazism” and, according to the current regulations of the law on the status of the deputy of the State Duma and the Federation Council, the deputy is not entitled to combine his position with the one in the international organization.
In addition, according to Boris Shpigel, he recently suffered a serious heart surgery, and combining the two positions would be extremely difficult.
“Most likely, I will resign, but it is in no way connected with the adoption of the law on the prohibition of foreign accounts for civil servants, to which I belong,” Interfax quoted the senator.
