According to the communists, the protest was provoked by “a series of scandalous facts of privatization of social facilities, bringing officials-invitees of questionable professionalism to the district administration, paying himself obscenely high salary, and treating the residents of the area disrespectfully.”

Several protesters held flags with communist symbols, and banners reading “Sharonov, go away,” “We need the kind of power which is hard-working, not stealing, not lying, not shooting at their own people” and others.

The first secretary of the Communist Party, a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Penza region Georgy Kamnev presented at the rally and urged the residents of Serdobsk to participate in the mass actions more actively.

“The government hears the street only. Ten thousand people in the street will inevitably make it compromise,” he said.

According to Georgy Kamnev, activity of Serdobsk officials led to the situation when the working population has only one way of communication with the authority — through mass rallies.

“Only united actions of Serdobsk residents are able to make the authority turn its face on people,” said the leader of the Penza communists.

According to the police, no violations were registered in the course of the rally.
