Penza, 16 May 2013. PenzaNews. The deputies of the City Duma approved the sketch of the badge “Honorary Citizen of Penza” during the meeting of the working group chaired by the head of the city Yuri Alpatov on Thursday, May 16.

According to Yuri Alpatov, the need for the introduction of such a badge is long overdue.

“It happens so that a person keeps the certificate in his pocket, and we do not see that he is the honorary citizen. I think it is unfair,” he said.

The head of the city of Penza added that the idea of a badge of honor for the citizens has been successfully implemented in a number of regions.

“We have overlooked this fact, but justice will be restored,” Yuri Alpatov said.

He explained that the new badges would be presented to the honorary citizens of Penza on the city anniversary in addition to the chest belt and certificate.

“Moscow Heralds’ Chamber is the contractor of the project. The badge will be released in limited quantity. On average, the production cost of one badge amounts to one thousand rubles,” the head of Penza concluded.

It is expected that a final decision on the establishment of the badge “Honorary Citizen of Penza” will be made at a regular session of the City Council on Friday, May 24.
